Creekview at Evergreen Retirement Community | Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Creekview South and Creekview Center are the latest additions in an extensive effort to redefine the nursing home. Conceived in 1987, Nelson•Tremain Partnership and Evergreen Retirement Community pioneered the first Household/Neighborhood model within a skilled nursing environment.

In this third generation of Household/Neighborhood concept, Evergreen Retirement Community and the design team brought together the many lessons learned over their 17 year collaboration to create an exceptional environment for the 44 residents. Starting with the original eight-resident pilot project, small scale household environments have passed the test of time.

Two therapy pools (84 and 93 degrees) allow a variety of therapeutic and exercise opportunities. Access to the warm pool is provided both by ramp (with enter and exit lanes). The trellis mounted lift serves both pools.

Staff work areas have been divided by task. Paperwork and charting occur at a desk, while the medication island, adjacent to the dining room is convenient for distributing medications at meal time.

The household kitchen is the center of each household. Steam wells are used for serving centrally prepared hot food. Dishes are washed in the household in residential dishwashers.

Vaulted ceilings in all living and bedroom areas allow indirect lighting. Two nurse call locations per resident maximize flexibility in room layout. Individual decoration of rooms using borders and draperies is encouraged.
